One of the main thrusts of life in the Divine Mercy Apostolic Center is to bring the Word of God deep into the grassroots. The Gagmay’ng Kristohanong Katilingban (GKK) of San Miguel in Sitio Maguise, Soong, Davao del Sur has no resident catechist. To prepare the children for First Communion, t Br. Joseph Thien Le, AA, and yours truly visited conducted catechetical classes last October 23-24, 2021. Going to the place was not easy. Since it rained the night before, the trek downhill from the barangay center going to the river crossing was very muddy and slippery. It took almost an hour to reach the river, and the water current from the river was also very strong. Thankfully, the journey was successful.
After arriving, we took some time to enjoy the place. The place was quiet and a good place to reflect and appreciate the beauty of God’s creation. Afterward, the team catechized the children as well as the youth who also hunger for Catholic teachings and social interactions and taught them how to pray the rosary. As a whole, it was a pleasant experience for the catechist and the catechized. And, indeed, an encounter with God deep into the mission.
